The project, launched in the early 2000s by the SDSS in collaboration with the Palermo Maritime Museum and the Sicilian Regional Superintendency of the Sea, has as its main objective the census and documentation of aircraft and naval wrecks connected to the Battle of the Mediterranean Convoys, which took place during World War II.
